Elites of TJU Enter Top Match National Competition

On May 11, 2015, the finals in the Tianjin region of the “Top Match” Competition, sponsored by Jiangxi TV and co-organized by the Research Association of Science Education at Tianjin University (TJU) was held at TJU. The “Top Match” competition has won the strong support from the Tianjin Association of Science and Technology and the Tianjin Youth Science Center. Five elite students from Tianjin University, Nankai University and Tianjin Normal University succeeded in advancing to the next round and were officially selected as the “Tianjin Team”, which will represent Tianjin at the National Competition.  Top Match which is scheduled to premiere in June, 2015, is the first television program focusing on the popular science and promoted enthusiastically by Jiangxi TV. This program considers that “Science is not far away, but right beside you” as its principle and for the first time proposed the concept of “competing to highlight the quality of popular science among cities”. The program chose excellent players of popular science in 18 capital cities and assembled the teams to contest among cities and compete for the honor of being crowned the Chinese Champion City of Quality of Popular Science. In this program, leading academicians will also be invited to question, and evaluate the competitors, and provide an explanation of the topics discussed.
